MPAC statement on zero tolerance for inappropriate behaviour

At the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), we stand for being accountable, transparent, customer-centric, innovative, and inclusive. We understand that your property assessment is important to you and we are committed to answering your questions, providing support, and sharing relevant information.  

In our interactions with property owners, clients, and the public, we strive to ensure that everyone is treated with fairness and respect.   

Our commitment 

We are committed to supporting a culture of respect, inclusiveness, equity, and well-being for our employees and clients by ensuring a safe, professional, and respectful working environment. To foster this commitment, MPAC has zero tolerance for inappropriate behaviour. 

Inappropriate behaviours include:  

  1. Verbal abuse: 
    • Swearing or using offensive language; 
    • Yelling or raising one’s voice aggressively; and, 
    • Threats of any kind.
       
  2. Digital abuse: 
    • Sending abusive or threatening emails, messages or social media posts; and 
    • Sharing or distributing offensive, defamatory or malicious content about MPAC online. 
       
  3. Physical abuse: 
    • Any form of physical intimidation or harm; and, 
    • Destructive actions towards property or individuals. 
       
  4. Harassment: 
    • Engaging in vexatious comment/conduct that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome; 
    • Persistent and repetitive verbal, digital, or written communication in relation to the same issue(s) or concern(s); 
    • Making discriminatory comments based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected ground; and 
    • Making unsubstantiated allegations or spreading false information about MPAC employees. 
       
  5. Intimidation and coercion: 
    • Attempts to manipulate or bully MPAC employees; and, 
    • Coercive behaviour that undermines MPAC employees’ ability to perform their duties. 

MPAC response to inappropriate behaviour 

Our employees are empowered to take action in response to inappropriate behaviour, including escalating their concerns, termination of communication, or filing a report with the appropriate authority. MPAC takes the safety and wellbeing of its employees seriously and will review, report, and follow up on these incidents, as required.
