Landowner Notification

Need to reach landowners?

MPAC’s data supports business owners, provincial and federal agencies, utilities and planning consultants, and private and public sector organizations when the need to notify landowners arises.

With a comprehensive database of Ontario’s 5.3 million properties, MPAC offers privacy compliant notification products that help notify landowners about important services, events and changes happening in their neighbourhood. Fees and licencing apply.

Our most common types of landowner notification data include:

  • business ownership and mailing addresses
  • property locational addresses with postal codes
  • targeting options by property type, physical characteristics, or geography.

New: Applications for an aggregate licence or permit

Beginning April 1, 2021, applicants for a licence or aggregate permit are to obtain the names and addresses of landowners from MPAC to fulfil their requirements to inform landowners as per Ontario regulation 244/97 under the Aggregate Resources Act.

This applies to:

  • applicants for a licence or aggregate permit, or wayside permit for a new site.
  • applicants for some significant amendments to an existing licence, permit, or site plan.

MPAC will release landowner information to applicants in compliance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). A licencing agreement and associated fee will be required.

Applicants will be required to provide MPAC with a copy of the application form that was submitted to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry under the Aggregate Resources Act and a spatial depiction of the proposed site (UTM coordinates-minimum 6 digit or a GIS shapefile). MPAC will not release landowner information until the applicant provides MPAC with the MNRF deemed complete notice.

Applicants will be required to adhere to confidentiality requirements and proper use and disposal of personal information as part of their licencing agreement with MPAC and in accordance with requirements under the ARA regulation.

For more information on any of our notification products, contact us at products@mpac.ca. If applicants have questions about the ARA changes, we ask that you please direct them to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, Natural Resources Information and Support Centre, 1 800-667-1940 or nrisc@ontario.ca.
